廣福宮 The Guang Fu Temple
廣福宮俗稱新街媽祖廟。創立於乾隆25年（西元1760年）。曾數度改建，95年亦將後殿加高，增添廟宇氣勢。奉祀主神是天上聖母，又稱開基老大媽，為先人自大陸渡台，開拓西螺時向湄洲媽祖廟分出金身，迎至西螺奉祀的。
廣福宮的興建歷史，與西螺歷史發展成中立新街有關。西螺一度稱西螺街，由於發展快速，嘉慶年間，街南面又發展成一街市稱新街，原來的西螺街就稱舊街。由新街的廣東和福建居民合建此廟，故名廣福宮。廟內雕樑畫棟，手工精細，並存有古匾數塊。平時香火鼎盛，是西螺信仰中心之一。
Guang Fu Temple, also commonly known as ‘New Matsu Temple’, was established in the 25th year of the Emperor Qianlong’s reign (1760). In 2006 Ceng Shudu leaded the works to enlarge the temple in height giving it a more monumental aspect. It was consacrated to the goddess also known as Lao Dama. Since ancestors came to Taiwan from the mainland China crossing the sea, when Xiluo was widened they built the temple pointing towards the Matsu temple on the river bank as if it had to welcome ancestors. The history of the construction of the temple and the history of the growth of Xiluo new street are linked. Due to the fast development of the town during the reign of the emperor Jianqing, the southern part took the name “New street”, and changed it over time in “Old street”. People from Guangdong and Fujian provinces (in mainland China) built this temple and they called it Guang Fu temple. Its roof and ceiling are all engraved and decorated meticulously by hand. There is a belief that if you burn incense during ordinary times a period of great prosperity will come.
